A Castle Built By Me...

My Sand Castle washed away today
Leaving a naked shore.
Helpless, I watched the tide roll in
And inch it's way to my door.

I tried as best I could
To keep the walls intact
But the more I struggled, the more they fell
Then crumbled from the waves' attack.

So now I sit here all alone
As the waves ebb out from the shore
Dragging my Castle back to it's home
And replacing it on the ocean floor.

My mind reverted back in time
To a backyard box of sand
Where Dad and I built Castles too
But they always seemed to stand!

"Build it big and strong, my son,
So it will not tumble down
And if a storm comes up tonight
It'll stand & hold its ground."

But Dad is now a memory
He's in his resting place
Reminding me of this naked shore
With it' emptiness of space.

But I have one consolation
That's comforting, you see,
For now God's mighty ocean holds
A little part of me.

That Castle built by me...
