"I WAS HUNGRY...so at the humanistic association meeting you stood up and discussed my hunger plight with the other members. I thank you; but meanwhile, a neighbor satisfied my hunger with some hot soup and homemade bisquits.

"I WAS IN PRISON...but you sneaked quietly to the chapel in your suburban neighborhood - and prayed for my liberation and my soul. But meanwhile, an old, "has-been" artist stopped by to visit me behind my cold gray walls, and cheered me up with his latest cartoon characters.

"I WAS NAKED...and you wondered wasn't that a bit immoral? But a complete stranger, just traveling through the city, kindly offered me his coat to cover my nakedness.

"I WAS ILL...and you went on your knees and praised God for your good health; while a widow crippled with arthritis came "in person" every day to check on my needs.

"I WAS LONESOME...and you preached to me about God's loving care - then left me all alone to go and pray for me. However, a teenager who'd been abused by her foster parents, took the time to chat with me, and befriended me.

"I WAS HOMELESS...and you gave money to the "Veterans Shelter" and thanked me with eloquent speeches for my service to your country, but...

"I don't know why, but I thought because you were a church-going Christian, seemingly holy and close to God, that perhaps you could, or would HELP me; however, I find if it hadn't for all of God's Other blessed souls, I'd still be hungry, lonesome and homeless...and still be freezing."

Scripture References:
"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

"Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!"

"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; Naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison and ye came unto me..." Matt 25:34-46 (KJV)

This is soooooo good! If I were to recommend anything, it might be a more original title, one with as much "bite" as the rest of the piece. But seriously? This is outstanding.
Jacquelyn Horne02/28/08
Very good examples of the topic.
Joanne Sher 02/29/08
Just excellent and hard-hitting and thought-provoking. Just powerful.
Tim Pickl02/29/08
You hit a homerun here! This is so excellently done--it could be developed into a skit for that suburban church. Acts 1...

Excellent writing. I didn't think the title fit the tone of the piece. This is a good example of this week's topic. Keep writing.

Very well written! We sometimes forget to do the simple things that are needed by others. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Betty Overstreet

Spot on.
Loved the title.
Great message.
Now go get it published.
Lynda Schultz 03/03/08
This has tremendous "ouch" value — something much needed by all of us who trade piety for practicality when both are needed.
Sheri Gordon03/06/08
Congratulations on your 3rd place. Loved the format of this, and it was right on topic.
Glynis Becker 03/06/08
So simple and to-the-point. This is wonderful!
Edy T Johnson 03/06/08
Excellent illustrations of the topic, this is a most creative devotional format. Congratulations on your well-deserved win, friend!
Mandy White03/08/08
This says it all. Thank you for this.

Hey little sister. This is a great piece.

I loved the title and the fact that you used graphic examples of what is "said" and what is "done." I also loved the comment about being immoral. That was my favorite part. So true.

Congratulations on your hit. What are you doing in Intermediate?

Keep writing and don't be afraid to contact me now and again.

Semper Fi.
