There is a river named Love
Bubbling forth –
From the throne of grace
A crystalline river, holy and pure
Swirling waters reflecting –
Our Creator’s face
God’s thoughts for me
Were never void –
Of thoughts for you
Molded and formed by His perfect hand
Shaped from the dust of the earth –
Yet incomplete
Until He planted love’s seed
In the dark soil –
Of my heart
And these ageless springs of water
Bursting through stone –
Caused love to grow
The current carries me gently
By the breeze –
Of His breath
Away from father and mother
To cleave unto you –
Always
The mountains sing for joy
And the trees –
Clap their hands
Angels hover in anticipation
As our hearts become one –
Creation’s masterpiece
The forces of nature, of flesh and blood
Rage against the beauty –
Destruction their design
Frigid winds of bitterness
Beat their fists –
Across frozen waters
Yet the roots of love dig deeper still
Within the dust –
Of the created
Depart O winter, as the Sun shines within
Encircling my heart –
With its radiance
The mighty floodwaters of love
Carve through my granite heart –
Filling the canyon of my soul
These Living Waters prevailing
Bringing life out of death –
And the stone gives birth to lilies
Rest in this truth
My love, my dove –
I am yours forever
Let us draw from the well
Of the free-flowing stream –
And taste His sweet wine together
Beloved, you have kindled a fire
Burning deep within my bosom –
Unquenched by the storms of life
For the Master gardener
Plants and waters this love –
That no force can ever uproot
The seas may cast their foam
The enemy may roar –
And the world may turn against us
But my love for you
Born in the heart of God –
Is a love without condition
