Greatest Church in the World

I belong to the greatest church in the world and anybody that claims this scripture and believes in their hearts than they are also a member. What is the amazing scripture you ask? Well sit back pull up a chair make yourself comfortable and I will try to tell you.

It started about two thousand years or so in a far away land. A tiny baby was born in a stable to a young woman, named Mary and her husband, named Joseph. They named him Jesus. This tiny babe was destined to become the Savior of all humanity. He lived a very lonely life filled with sadness that none of us will ever know. He carried in His heart knowledge beyond our understanding and He, Jesus, was without spot or wrinkle. He committed no sin but upon an ugly cross, this beautiful wonderful gentle man died for OUR sins.

Before Jesus, crucifixion Jesus traveled the land with twelve men teaching them about His heavenly Father. He taught them many things about how each should live their lives. They were humble men and Christ was their master and teacher. These twelve went forth teaching the Holy Word of God and healing many in the name of Christ.

You may be wondering just what the name of this church is. It got it name thousands of years ago in a place called Antioch. The followers of Christ were given the name Christians. What do I call this church? I guess I would have to call it, the church of Christians. It is not affiliated with any one church but it includes all churches that teach the Word of God and believe in the Holy Trinity known as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Oh, I almost forgot the scripture and it says how any can become a member of this church. It is so simple but so hard for us to do. We live in a fallen world and we have erred and strayed from God but follow this verse and become members of the greatest church in the world.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

All who believe are children of God and this church does not have hundreds, thousands, millions, but billions as members. All this sinner can say is thank you Father for loving us so much that a sinner such as I can belong to “The Greatest Church in the World” known as the body of Christ.

What a wonderfully simple explanation of the church -- I love it when all the deep theological terminology is eliminated and the simplicity of the Gospel is set forth. Good job with the topic. Christmas blessings! :)

Wonderful in its simplicity. A few punctuation edits might be needed...but thanks for this uplifting piece.

We deal so often with the complexity of churches--buildings, governments, fundraising, even carpet colors (yuck). Every single one of these fades in the face of what you describe. I love it when we recall the heart of the issue. Thank you.
