The little footbridge is just like it was when you first showed it to me, still just as flimsy. I walk slowly holding on to the hand-rail, pausing to watch the birds that swoop over the water meadows and marshland. Finally I arrive on firm ground at the shore of the estuary and sit to watch the light play on the water. A sense of peace and calm envelops me like a warm blanket. I am so glad that you shared this place with me.
After a little while I make my way back across the footbridge and walk through the field and along the road to the little churchyard. Here too it is so peaceful with only the sound of birdsong to break the silence. I place some flowers on your grave.
Slowly I walk into the small church. It is so peaceful inside. You loved to come here. I walk down the aisle over the well-worn flagstones. At the pulpit I turn and look back. I can imagine you sitting there with the sun streaming in upon you.
I sit quietly in one of the pews and let the peace of this place fill my soul.“O, Lord, I thank you for this place in all its beauty; I thank you for the peace and calm that is all around me and I thank you too for my father, for all that he meant to me and all that he shared with me.â€

I was surprised to learn that it was the father being remembered, rather than the spouse.
abilities are wonderful. A very creative piece for the topic "At the pulpit". Well done. I hope you get a placing this week.
