But my wife gets up with an attitude.
The Lord says, “You know what you should do.”
I say, “I love you, dear.”
Fed and dressed, I head off to work,
My car is rear ended by a jerk.
The Lord says, “I kept you from getting hurt.”
I say, “Thanks and bless him, Lord.”
I’m running late and the boss is mad,
This day is starting off oh so bad.
The Lord says, “How should you deal with feeling sad?”
I say, “Praise you, Lord.”
The office staff is working way too slow,
My temper is about to blow.
The Lord says, “Let my love for them flow.”
I say, “I’ll be patient, Lord.”
I go to lunch and drop some blueberry pie,
Staining my best and favorite tie.
The Lord says, “That’s a pretty loud sigh.”
I say, “It’s all a test, isn’t it Lord?”
I’m just about ready to call it a day,
When my boss states, “Excellent job today, Ray.”
The Lord says, “It’s because you handled it my way.”
I say, “You get all the glory, Lord.”
Hailing a cab, I go right home,
Where my wife greets me in a cheery tone.
The Lord says, “It’s due to the kindness you’ve sown.”
I say, “Only by your grace, Lord.”
I know this day could have been much worse,
If I had fulfilled my desire to curse.
The Lord says, “It’s always best to turn to me first.”
I say, “Amen, Lord.”
