‘Thank You’ are just some simple words
That we all use throughout our day.
But did you know that it affords
A wealth of thought? So if I may:

I’d like to tell you why I use
Those words so often in my day.
For it is something that I choose:
A chance to give a smile away.

It lets the other person know
That I appreciate what they’ve done.
A simple act; it may be so,
But as for me a welcome one.

But thankfulness goes much beyond
Two simple words that we convey.
There is the heart that will respond;
A joy within comes out to say:

“I’m humbled by your simple deed.
I couldn’t do it all alone.
You came along and saw my need.
You helped me out and now it’s done.”

I’ve learned there is a threefold cord:
Thanksgiving is the first of three,
And it will always aim toward
Humility and joy. You see:

A heart that’s filled with joy ‘s the one
Which comes a blessings to impart;
The Master has his smile upon
A grateful and a humble heart.

The three-fold cord: thankfulness, joy, and humility. I like that. An humble person full of joy is bubble over with thanksgiving, not taking things for granted. Great poem.

I like your poem. It's so sweet and shows us what's in a Thank You. The joy and humility that spring from a grateful heart would certainly please our Lord. Well done.
