He reached out his hands, yet I couldn’t grasp it. He leaned still closer. Straining with all of my might, I grabbed it. First, his fingers, then I managed a tight hold on his hands.
“Don’t be afraid,” he whispered, “I will not let you go. I am here with you. Do not be afraid; I’ve got you.”
His voice was reassuring and I believed him. He would not let me fall, not for one moment. I relaxed for once as it made it easier for me to keep my hold. It wasn’t until much later that I realized that I could completely let go of my grip. He had me securely, the most secure that I had ever been.
The winds beat down hard against us, yet we hardly even noticed. The rains were only refreshing to my soul. The water saturated the path making it slippery. I did not slip in the mud as the Rock helped me keep my footing. He had me safe in the shelter of his arms from the first day that I acknowledged Him in my life. It is a place of strength, comfort and, yes, unconditional love.
I am so very thankful that he rescued my soul from the downward spiral. He brought me up from the deep, dark, damp, pit and set my feet on solid ground.
