Lying here beside you in the moonlight,
Listening to you breathe;
The life that flows within you
Burns inside of me.
As I rest in your embrace,
I succumb to the gentle light
That glimmers inside my heart
With every breath into the night
Fear not the flame of love’s candle.
Allow it to be our sun,
A sun in a world of darkness
Until this life is over and done.
I am anesthetized to the pain
Of the world’s conventional disasters
Because God gave you to me, my love,
And that’s the fact that matters.
Although the world may cut me
And leave my heart to bleed,
You tend me with your love and care,
The very medicine my wounds would need.
Fear not the flame of love’s gentle fire,
A flame burning deep within my heart;
A feeling I never thought I’d deserve;
A bond no darkness can tear apart.
Although I was molded perfectly,
I have made some terrible mistakes--
But, like the Father, you accept me
And caused the darkness here to break.
So keep shining your light into me,
And I’ll keep shining mine;
Because no matter what happens down the road,
We’ll always be side by side.
So let’s take a stroll down life’s bumpy road,
And we’ll carry each other along.
Because as long as you are with me,
I feel nothing can go wrong.
