Ruby Day

To awake at dawn
With the call of a bird,
From where we lay
It could be heard.

Cards now stand
For all to see
Beside the flowers
That you sent to me.

A game of bowls
Walks in the park
To see the wild life
Before it gets dark.

A cake to be cut
With you by my side
The family is here
With love that cant hide.

A meal for two
Plus thirteen more.
A whirl of a dance
Round the pavilion floor.

Its time to remember
We were bride and groom
Forty years ago
In the month of June.

I enjoyed your poem. It has a very light and happy feeling. Great title too. Thanks for sharing it.

Loved this! It really drew pictures on my mind and the flow was just beautiful. Felt like a ballroom dance :)

Joyce, this was lovely - and it's always a delight to see poetry in the Challenge. Unfortunately, you may have missed the guidelines about word count. The minimum is 150 words, and your poem came in at just 102. Don't be discouraged though. Your poem was delightful and I hope you'll enter the Challenge again. Just keep the word counts in mind - 150 minimum and 750 maximum. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
