I have a confession to make. While some people desire wealth and fame, and others desire family and friends, I desire shoes! It doesn’t matter if I’m at Wal-Mart, Target, or Belk’s, you will find me in the shoe department trying on any number of adorable sandals, boots, or flip-flops. I don’t know what I was thinking all those years I refused to wear a shoe without a heel. Those poor Israelites in the desert wandered for forty years without their shoes wearing out (Deut. 29:5 NKJ). I certainly hope there were no Hebrew young women with shoe fetishes. None of them could go to daddy and beg for the latest leather sandals that “all the girls were wearing” because all of them had been wearing the same shoes since their feet stopped growing. I, of course, would have a plan. I would wake up early and begin yelling. “Daddy, Fluffy ate my shoes!” Poor goats. It wasn’t my idea to bring them along, but they can come in handy. It’s certainly not my fault if the dumb goats eat everything they get their mouth on. We must feed the need for shoes after all. Daddy would certainly feel good about feeding the family for one more day in the desert, and I would have the latest in goat leather sandals.
Yes, I am a closet shoe-oholic. Well, I’m off to go hide these adorable sandals that I found last week to make sure that no one else buys them before I can.
