Superheroes wear capes, fly and fight crime. They have super powers that give them x-ray vision, super human strength or blinding fast speed. They are impervious to pain or injury and have an alter ego that is a regular human being. They can withstand all the evils thrown at them and survive any catastrophe.

There also heroes that go unnoticed; the unsung heroes. These are normal, everyday people who are put in a position to assist or turn and flee. They see their heroic acts as something anybody would do. They often say, ďI just did what any normal person would have done.Ē

The truth is, most normal people would not put themselves out to rescue another person. They do not want to go out on a limb and think of someone else. Unsung heroes however, put their own lives aside sometimes, and risk personal injury or death to aid in someone elseís peril. They are not given the spotlight that they so deserve. They may be published in a local paper or get a five second spot on the news, but they often go unnoticed and then fade into history.

We have all been an unsung hero at some point in our lives. Whether we have helped someone change a tire, carry groceries for the elderly or picked up trash along the road. We are not after notoriety, we are just trying to make a difference and perhaps feel better about ourselves.

There is one superhero that unfortunately has turned into an unsung hero at times. He didnít wear a cape, didnít fly and didnít have x-ray vision. He placed himself last and put everyone else first. He did not want the fortune and fame and had no alter ego. Although He had superpowers, He didnít use them for show or flash them around. They were only used as directed.

This one true superhero was Jesus Christ. He was not above physical pain. In fact, he faced more pain, torture and ridicule than any of us could ever imagine. He did this so we may have everlasting life. No other hero has ever been able to save the entire human race all at once. We need to make Him the hero of hearts, instead of an unsung hero that is thanked only when we receive something we want.

He wants our faith and our lives, so He can use us to continue to save others. We cannot let Him fade into history. He must be our first and last thought of every day. Once we see Him as our hero, our lives will be changed forever. Let the one and only superhero swoop down and claim you as His so He receives the respect and honor He deserves.
