They are to be faithful and to answer their call, as they must give an account and answer to God for each one of us: as on Judgment Day they are to be held accountable for our souls. Such a responsibility makes most preachers I have seen; preach their hearts out about the good news, about salvation and eternal life. But preaching does not always fully make a preacher what he is. So, what, are you asking, makes a pastor who he is? It’s simple: He has to have THE HEART of a pastor.
A pastor must be loving, caring, compassionate, and be willing to work diligently for the Lord. He is to show a good example of a Christian as he is performing his higher calling for the Good Shepherd as he leads the Lord's flocks. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." That is what is says in Galatians 5:22-23. Those are the qualities of a good pastor. Brothers, sisters, you in the ministry I exhort you to search your hearts: Do you show the fruits of the spirit and do you have the heart of a pastor?
