A True Friendship Starts with Love

There’s nothing like a friend to give love and show love at all times. A true friend will look deep into your heart, not just your outer appearance; they will look inside and see your abilities and gifts, your weakness and your strengths. A true friend will build up and not tear down, impart and not refrain.

A true friend is one who’s spiritually connected with your soul; they know when something is wrong, even when you are rejoicing. A true friend will encourage you, not discourage you. A true friend will exhort you when you stumble, but not let you fall. A true friend is someone that you can confide in, someone you can call on, someone who listens and allows you to emote. A true friend prays with you and for you, you can call them up no matter what time it is. A true friend is one who is truthful even if it hurts because they know that you are being set free.

Acquiring the ability to be a true friend, requires a life of Christ-likeness, as we pattern our lives after His, it allows us to walk in genuine love.

Sometimes people come into your lives for a season, but Christ is everlasting.

He is a true friend, one who never sleeps nor slumbers. One who will carry all of your cares and fears.

He is our comforter in the midst of all the challenges, our peace in the midst of a storm. He is with us wherever we go, walking us through the cloud of darkness into the light!

Great definitions of what true friendship is. It truly is a blessing to have a real friend connected to our souls. I liked the line, "A true friend is one who is truthful even if it hurts because they knokw you are being set free". Nicely done.

I like your enphasis on "True" friendship. Many today aren't big on truth. They even deceive themselves. They do not have the ability to be a true friend. You are right in placing the importance on our relationship with Christ as the foundation of the qualify of friendship we are able to offer others. Your article is filled with wisdom.

I liked how you brought out about "acquiring the ability to be a true friend.... requires Christlikeness!" That was so beautiful and I'm going to feed on that line all day long! <>< Dixie

A true friend is one who’s spiritually connected with your soul; they know when something is wrong, even when you are rejoicing. ... The friend that reads between the lines and sees what we attempt to veil, is a true friend indeed; a strong family trait, seen so clearly in our Lord! Very informative and sage words. Nicely done! - Nancy
