Some people seem so clever
In the things they often say,
But we need to be perceptive
And take the time to pray.
We need to be discerning
As to what they really mean.
For the things we often hear,
Are not always what we dream.
For the words so often spoken,
May not be meant for you.
We need to seek God’s wisdom,
To know just what is true.
Learning to be shrewd
In what we really do believe,
Lest the enemy should try,
Our mortal souls he can deceive.
He is like a prowling lion
Waiting there to pounce,
If we wallow in our sin,
And give into him an ounce.
We need to search God’s Word.
For the answers that we seek.
Not following the world,
But be humble, contrite, meek.
Discerning of the spirits,
In all things, we must be wise.
Seeking to be true to God.
Is the truth we must advise.
Studying the Scriptures,
To learn to know God’s Will,
He sent us His Holy Spirit,
With His Wisdom He will fill.
