I once heard someone say “To live is to dream and to die is to awaken”. One spring, about five years ago, it started. I began to have a series of dreams, dreams of spiritual nature, dreams that captured my attention in my waking hours. I have always been a detailed dreamer but my slumber was not always sweet. With these new vivid dreams I saw angels; I saw Jesus and His suffering. I saw natural disasters and evil lurking and chasing after people and even myself. I knew the Lord was knocking on my spiritual door. I have always been a believer, even as a small child. Distracted, as many, I did not always walk the road as a follower of faith. There are so many choices in life, too many for those not seeking wisdom. I was not truly alive in Him, not born again. I needed to change. I wanted to change, to be conformed in His image. I knew there was more…there had to be. Merely going to church on Sundays was not fulfilling enough. The Lord was calling me to His throne, to seek His face in prayer. That was the beginning of my death, the death of my flesh, of my worldly pleasures, this great death that brought me life. I emerged myself in His word, in praise and worship music. I sought after the gifts of His precious spirit; surely He must have something in store for me. What is it Lord, what will you have me do upon this earth? What can I do? I am a mother of two small children; we are barely making ends meet. Lord, the giver of Life, which way do I go from here? He answered me, “Be still my child, this is a time of preparation”. With excitement and anticipation, I wait, I worship, I read His Word, I pray in the spirit, I rest in His peace, I go to church on Sundays, I volunteer when I can. I give my mind over to Christ. I pray that he will grant me His wisdom to operate in the law of life. Help me to keep my tongue. Guide me now to roads of faith, paths of light. When I turn on the TV, when I choose my company, in my waking and my sleeping, you are calling me to life. Teach me, show me, grow me Lord…I have awakened.
