Dirk and Rex, thanks to a text they saw from the maid of honor, Larissa Natator, also Rebecca's sister, and the first civilian who learned their secret identities, knew where Rebecca was. They simply could not tell Reverend Wallace for fear he might follow through on his threat, as he did not approve of superheroes, to give their identities away. Rex paced in the narthex of Blessed Fellowship. He had not worn his morphing belt on his wedding day, so he couldn't change into Diamond and assist Rebecca, AKA Mariness, who was dealing with a problem at the local docks.
Larissa called Dirk on his secure cell phone, courtesy of their benefactors from the future, and asked, "Don't you have a clever excuse as to why my sister is late? You used to come up with them when she was in high school."
Dirk had already come up with an excuse and had acted upon it. He said to Larissa, "I told my dad that The limo you are coming in won't start, and the limo company's computer is down so they are having a hard time scheduling another one to get your sister and the rest of your party."
"Electromagnetic pulse, if I had to guess," Larissa said.
Dirk smirked, "I plead the Fifth."
Larissa had a portable police scanner in her purse, so she was able to check on the action her sister was involved in. She called Rex and said, "We'll be on our way as soon as the replacement limo arrives." With a malicious grin she said as she was hanging up, "With my sister being this late, you have an excuse for forgetting one wedding anniversary, my brother-in-law."
Soon Reverend Wallace saw Rebecca come in the side door of the church so as not to let her groom see her in her dress prior to the wedding. He called out to the assembled wedding guests, “The bride is in the building. We will start any moment now.”
The groom and best man shared a look of relief that Reverend Wallace would not follow through on his threat to blow their identities.
Rebecca was a bit late to her own reception, making a quick flight to Rex's apartment, now their apartment, to get something they wouldn't need on their honeymoon. After she apologized to the guests, Rebecca quietly pulled her sister into a corner and handed her a bag and asked her to hold it for her. Larissa was a curious woman, being a reporter after all, and looked in the bag. Inside were Diamond's and Mariness's morphing belts and a note. 'Lead us not into temptation. No superheroics till after the honeymoon. Off to Jamaica, sis. Send you a postcard ... if we remember.'

Little white lies are so common probably the best of Christians can't resist using them often. A practiced white lie becomes a perfect black lie.
