Spring is often a harbinger of severe weather, such as major thunderstorms, flooding, blizzards, and hurricanes. Scientists tell us these weather extremes occur because warm air begins to clash with cold air.
Some people would define spring as a season of beauty, with flowers blooming and children laughing. Some say it is a time for sadness, because a loved one died during this season. For others, it is a time for lemonade stands and muddy yards. For still others, spring is simply the season between winter and summer.
For me, however, spring is a time for getting my pony out of the stable. Each year, I wait in anticipation for the first Saturday in April. My Mustang, covered and quiet since November, is preparing to awake from its slumber and run freely again.
There are certain steps I must take to prepare my pony for its yearly journey. First, the cover is removed, folded up, and stored. Second, the battery must be reinstalled. Third, I check the oil and other fluids to ensure nothing has dried up during the winter months. Fourth, I inspect the hoses and belts for cracks. Fifth, I move cars in the driveway so I have a clear road. Finally, I sit in the driver’s seat. As I turn the key and the engine roars to life, I smile with anticipation of this first drive of the year. I slowly pull out of the garage, close the garage door, and head to the highway … and freedom!
Just as there is an order to be followed when preparing to drive my Mustang for the first time each spring, I know that God has created a structured and orderly universe. There is “a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Spring is no exception. It continues year after year, and will do so until Christ comes again. Spring is a time for new opportunities, new challenges, and a renewed commitment to Jesus; it should also allow time for some fun.
As for me right now, I say Ah, springtime is coming! My pony and I will run wild and free for another year. Praise God!

Be wary of using the dictionary in your piece. There's a reason people don't read dictionaries: definitions aren't inherently interesting. There are almost always better ways to start an essay.
I loved your essay, especially since by the title I was anticipating another essay altogether. Well done!
