“God sure knew what He was doing giving you Silas to watch over. You have your Angel Wings full. It will be a miracle that he makes it.”
“Just what do you think I’m doing here, Simon? Sure the guy needs help, a lot of help, but at least he isn’t laid back like your Justin. How they could be friends, I will never know.” Compton pushed back the cloud in his way as he smiled at his angel buddy.
The earthly buddies went their separate ways and so did the watchful angels.
Compton slowed his descent and landed on a light post, Silas had just gone into the grocery store; he shouldn’t get into any trouble there. He waited on his charge. As the minutes tick by Compton knew something was wrong. He was behind Silas in an angel second.
What a sight before him, there stood Silas in among a group of onlookers; he was talking to another man.
“Don’t tell me you don’t care about God, don’t you know what it says in Hebrews 4:12?” ‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’ He pierce’s our souls with His Word, He sees the inner you.”
“Silas, just get out of my face, I don’t want you telling me anything. Just leave me alone, I don’t want any part of your religion, do you understand?” The big man known as Jasper stepped closer to Silas. “Now get moving!”
“But you don’t understand, I just want to-“
Jasper heaved a punch toward Silas; in an angel instant, Compton stopped the punch from hitting him. Compton backed up Silas and moved him in another direction.
How could he reach Silas, the man just loved the Lord so much that he spent much of his time talking and trying to win people to Christ. He did much of this on his own, not waiting for the Holy Spirit to nudge them or sway them to come to the Lord. If he would just wait, he would see the benefits and it would make Compton’s job so much easier.
For the next couple of weeks, Silas did not get into any trouble. Today he was with Justin and they were playing some one on one basketball.
Compton and Simon watched perched on the corner of the fence. “Have you noticed Compton that the guys are doing better?” Simon said to his angel buddy.
“Yah, I have, Silas has been going to Justin’s church and his whole being has changed, he now understands more about the Holy Spirit and being led by the Spirit.”
Simon just smiled. “Compton, it must be rough being a human, can you imagine not understanding the whole scheme of things. Having to make choices and not just choices but good choices. Having to stay ahead of Satan. He is the one that lies and steals and cheats to get these humans to mess up. Without the Lord in their lives, and their guardian angels, life would be so very hard.”
“Yah, don’t forget Simon, God directs all we do too.” Compton replied confidently.
During the next couple of months Compton saw a real growth in his charge, the change in him could be seen by many of their church members.
Today, the Pastor ended his message by asking anyone needing the Lord, to step out in faith and come to the front. Two or three started to make their way down, when Compton nudge Simon who was leaning against the window sill. They both let out an angel whoop, which by the way could only be heard in heaven.
At that same moment Justin and Silas had just witnessed a miracle; standing up front with the others stood Jasper. Silas did not think that Jasper could be reached. What a wonderful surprise to see, as he gave his heart to the Lord. Jasper’s eyes were radiant as he walked back down the aisle.
