To park or not to park – that is the question. We park everyday and don’t think a thing about it. Yet, where you park that vehicle indicates the place where you want to be. Just get out and look around in the lot where you are parked. We park at our place of employment to earn wages. We park at stores to get food, clothes, furniture, home supplies toys etc. We park at amusement parks, theaters and bars for entertainment.
One may choose to park at a hospital,
his good work held in high regard;
Another will go to a factory.
It pays the bill and is sometimes hard
One may park at the mini-mart,
her choice is convenience and speed;
Another will go to a mega-grocery,
thousands of items to fulfill her needs.
One may park at a station,
filling his tank to the brim makes him smile.
Others stop and dispense one gallon;
till arrival at a pump within a mile.
How to park- that is the question. We all have encountered those who absolutely park less than perfect. We scrutinize the lines, look for the special tags, wonder about the personality of the person that parked in that manner. We know those who can’t park right deserve that ding in the door, deserve that ticket, deserve the anonymous nasty note, just to let them know that they are an idiot!
One may choose to park in a handicapped spot,
though, nary a defect has he;
Hoping not to get caught,
before he exits the store, quickly.
One may choose to park backwards,
in a spot angled for exit ease;
He leaves driving against traffic,
cursing those blocking his SUV.
One may choose to overlap 2 spaces,
to protect his precious ride;
The metal will soon fail and rust,
then in a junk yard it will hide
To park in wisdom or not to park in wisdom – that is the question. Where we park our vehicle gets us to our daily goals, whether for work, for food or for fun. These destinations are temporary and fleeting. But there is a place to park that will make a difference for eternity. It is the place of wisdom; God’s wisdom. Where we park our heart, mind and soul will not only make a difference in our daily lives but also in our eternal destination.
One may choose to park their mind in the wicked,
this the Lord will condemn;
But choosing to park thoughts in goodness,
will bring God’s great favor to him.
One may choose to park his heart in evil,
and deceit will be his treasure;
But choosing God’s perfect peace
will bring ultimate joy beyond measure.
One may choose to park his soul in the way of hatred
It stirs up so much strife;
But choosing Jesus’ love,
covers all of his sins, giving eternal life.
No one can ever park their heart, mind and soul perfectly. In this, we have all failed in some manner, just as we fail to park our vehicles perfect. Our hearts stray our minds wander. We all deserve the punishment due to us. To park in wisdom is to choose Jesus Christ. It is the only place that a person who constantly parks imperfectly can find a perfect God to love him and save him from sins and give him eternal life. If you are not parked here, consider re- parking with Jesus Christ.
Where we park our vehicles everyday
indicates the place that we want to be;
But where you park your heart, soul and mind,
is utmost important for eternity.
