Today was a bit different. Sycamore Street was all in a fluster. Some new guy is coming tomorrow. The people couldn’t stop talking about him. He has healed the sick, fed the hungry and tells amazing parables. Some said he has walked on water. Others said he once calmed a storm. Some even said he is the Son of God. These things, I have heard of, I must see for myself.
Son of God, can you believe that? Who can say such a thing about someone? As if? But, what if? Who am I? Can you imagine, think of the things I’ve done… If this guy, what did they call him again? Joshua, no Joseph, no Jesus. Yes, Jesus. This Jesus, if he is the Son of God, What is he going to want with a guy like me?
Sorry dudes, I just got way too serious for you other tax collectors out there. No worries, I’ll check this Jesus guy out and then get back on the collecting track. I still gotta hit up Almond Road before the end of the week.
You’re not going to believe this. I got to Sycamore Street and it was crazy. People were everywhere. I couldn’t see a thing. I haven’t said anything before but I’m vertically challenged. The crowd was all charged up over Jesus as he drew near. So I climbed up one of the street trees, so I could get a better look.
I had just gotten into place when a guy looked up to me and said, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” It was Jesus!
I hurried down and hugged him with joy. I couldn’t believe he wanted to hang with me, a wretched sinner. He had sought me out. He knew my name. There was some grumbling from the crowd, something about why he would want to be my guest. But Jesus, he didn’t care what others said. He wanted to be with me. He wanted to know me.
This is my last Blog as the Jericho Tax Man. I promised Jesus that I would give half of my possessions away to the poor. To anyone that I have defrauded I will give back four times as much.
When I told Jesus this he then told me, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
That weekend trip to the River Jordan has changed to more of a trip to share with others. I can’t keep this to myself. Jesus is the real deal. He is the Son of God and he sought me out when I was lost and saved me.
Heaven Bound Blog, formally known as the Jericho Tax Man:
Zaccheus here and I wanted to let you all know I have stayed on the right path. I’ve given to the poor as I promised and returned the riches I took dishonestly back to their rightful owner.
On the lighter side of things, the neighborhood kids have come up with a rather silly jingle of some sort. Something about the tree I was in and how tall I am. I’m sure it’ll die down in a few days. I guess the best part about the song is that it tells everyone about how I met Jesus.
So I’ll close my blog with this, what’s your song about how you met Jesus?

With that said, even though it was in a blog format and you mentioned the word blog, my mind kept saying "There weren't computers back then."
I did really like the ending. I thought it was thought-provoking and didn't come off as preachy. I smiled about the reference to the song.
So creative. Moved me right along wanting to see what happened when he ralized Jesus was all they said.
I could picture this little man walking the streets collecting taxes. How awesome it is that Jesus meet us right where we are!!
God Bless~
