Hands touching, healing
Love speaking
Eyes full of compassion
Feet walking
Entrance ramp: Mercy Way
Ears listening
Eyes wide, jaws gaping
“A new teaching--
and with authority!”1
Eyes beaming, faces smiling
Jubilant laughter
The freeway is clear.
Truth speaking
Brows furrowed, eyes narrowed
Arms folded, feet shifting
Ears closing, tongues wagging
Whispers, murmurs
A gravel road
Pits and bumps mark the way
The pressure builds
Hands praying
Bread broken
Sips of wine—
dark red
A passenger steals away
In the night
More praying
Drops of sweat—
blood red
A mob approaches
A bitter kiss given
The road—
dark, narrow
Pressure increasing
Words scorning, shouting,
“Crucify! Crucify”2
Fists striking
Whips tearing
Thorns jabbing
Heat rising
Friction, tension mounts
A blowout occurs
Along the thoroughfare
A stranger tows
Golgotha awaits
Hands pounding
Spikes piercing
Crowds jeering, mocking
“He saved others;
let him save himself
if he is God’s Messiah,
the Chosen One.”3
Breath gasping
Storm brewing
“It is finished.”4
Lightening flashes
Thunder crashes
Earth trembles
A curtain torn
Destination reached.
