Previous Challenge Entry (Level 1 – Beginner)
Topic: Season(s) of a year or life (01/13/11)
The trees are green with new leaves, blades of grass point upward reaching for the sky, flowers are beginning to bloom creating a glorious palette of color all around. Casey sits on a bench among the new beginnings. It is spring. The season she loves the most where everything comes alive. But today is different. Today she can’t see past her pain. Past the heart ache she feels deep inside. She can’t see past the face of the man who shattered her dreams, the one who walked away. Three years of their lives planning and preparing and he just leaves. No explanation, no I’m sorry, just… I can’t do this.

Tears sting her eyes, “What will I do? How will I make it? Where will I go?” She places her hand on her abdomen. “The baby will be here soon. What kind of life will I alone be able to give her?”

Be still, and know that I am God. “Lord, how can I be still when my thoughts won’t move past this. Where is my future? How do I know what comes next? Be still child.

She drops her head and closes her eyes searching for an ounce of peace. “Help me Lord. Help me see.”

Her plea is interrupted by a noise above her head. A blue bird is perched on a limb. A bumble bee buzzes close by searching for the perfect bloom and a chipmunk ventures out of its home to see what the new day brings. Her heart hears loud and clear, Do not be worried about your life, I know what you need.

Having become a mother at the tender age of 18, I could really relate to your MC's feelings. I wish you had expanded more on your me. I mould have enjoyed reading more about her, fund out who she really is and how she learned to depend on God. You had a great message that just about everyone could relate to.

lovely. so well written. i was not sure on the title. did you mean "I am Here" or did you mean to use "hear"?

Diana,

It's funny that you ask that. I didn't realize I spelled it that way. All I can say is I was so caught up in my own story that my subconscious mind was thinking hear just like my character was hearing God speak to her. When I finally saw it on my entry I was embarrassed by the fact that I used the wrong form.
