“I can still see His piercing eyes as the cock crowed for the third time. The look of denial penetrated deep into my soul.
How could I have done that? He was my Lord, my Savior, my life.
I tried to protect him in the garden when they came to arrest him. I raised my sword and cut off an ear to keep them from taking Him. But my gentle Lord, even in his last hours, healed that soldier, and made me put my sword away. I should have known my Lord would not want me to use my sword. He always preached of peace and love. I did not know what else to do to stop them.
Then, instead of admitting to know my Lord and dying with Him, I ran and hid. Why couldn’t I just tell them I was one of them? I am such a coward. I am so sorry my Lord. Please forgive me,” as he cried uncontrollably, crouched in an alleyway outside of the house where the apostles were gathered.
“What are John and the others going to think of me now? How can I be in their presence without feeling so ashamed?” Peter pondered as he rose to enter the house.
Inside the home, the stunned and angry apostles discussed what they should do next.
“We could get a large crowd of His followers and surround the palace to show Pilate how we feel,” one retorted.
“No, not me, I am just going to be a fisherman again,” Peter mumbled as he entered the room.
John, sensing the tone of the other apostles, rose to speak: “My brothers, remember our Lord told us to not be troubled, but to trust in God and in Him.
He told us that the Son of Man would be betrayed, killed, and raised on the third day. We did not believe or understand at the time how this could come to pass.
He spoke of going to His Father’s house and preparing a place for us, and that He would return. We must have faith, my brothers. We must have faith in our Christ that he will raise.
He told of this before it happened, so we would believe. He loved us; let us not forget all He has taught. We witnessed His love every day as we travelled by His side through His healings and miracles.
We must keep our Messiah alive by putting His life and teachings in writing, for all that are to come after us. What we write down will influence our descendants more than the might of Rome.
Remember our Lord promised that we will not perish but live eternally with Him again. He spoke of His world often, and we must believe Him.”
“He had a plan for us to be fishers of men, not just fishermen Peter, and spread His message of His world and eternal life to the ends of the land.”
Calm filled the room as the followers reflected on John’s words from the heart.
John then continued by saying, “Let us pray to our Father to direct us in bringing the Word of our Messiah to all.”
Peter looked toward the heavens and said, “Lord I will spend the rest of my days proclaiming boldly Your Word and never deny You again.”

Perhaps one of the best stories in the bible to reflect how inadequate we all are in these fleshly bodies with good intentions.
Good message here and with the use of the topic as well. The sword killed Christ (temporarily) and yet His word lives on.
The longer speeches of Peter and John might read more smoothly if interspersed with some action. Sometimes is was hard to tell what was dialog, thoughts, or the writer's comments.
I like the way you brought the disciples to life at what must have been a very stressful and confusing time for them.
I did have a hard time following who was talking perhaps if you had added a" at the beginning of each continuing paragraph, then ended the thought or speech at the end with another" I might have been able to follow it easier. It seems silly that something as simple as punctuation could make a difference, but it's something that can be fixed easily.
Otherwise, outstanding job and very poignant. I really liked how John rallied them back together again. All of their thoughts and words were very believable.
