He looked into the eyes of his opponent and was met with a cocky grin that unnerved him a little, but he was careful not to let it show. Daniel had first dibs to start the match. He reached down and looked at what he picked up.
“Oh no,” he thought. “Tonight was suppose to be a green night not a yellow night. You prepared for a green night not a yellow night.”
He began to panic. He turned his back on his opponent, so he could not read the confusion in his face.
“Breathe Daniel, breathe.” He thought taking in big gulps of oxygen. “Calm down. You can do this. It doesn’t matter whether it’s green or yellow.”
He faced his opponent once again and flashed him a smile that he hoped would convince his opponent he was ready to play. His opponent just started to laugh.

The match was going well. Each player had cooperated through the easy part of the course, and they were about to enter the yellow phase.
Daniel made the first move, an airplane with intricate maneuvers and scored, leaving his opponent open mouthed in astonishment, and boosting Daniel’s confidence. Daniel quickly took control and scored twice more before his opponent had a chance to react.
Time out was called and Daniel backed away watching out of the corner of his eye his opponent guzzle from his water bottle. Daniel had him on the ropes. He just had to remain calm, keep to the game plan and not think about winning for the first time in eight weeks.
Daniel mixed it up on the next three possessions and was able to score on all three attempts. Time was running out, one more score would win the match. Daniel decided it was time for the flea flicker. He danced toward his opponent making a funny face using his right hand to stretch his mouth flicking his tongue and make a whooping noise.
His opponent froze for a second then began to laugh. At that moment, Daniel came around with his left hand and scored. The match was over and Daniel was victorious! He walked out of the lion’s den without a scratch. Daniel threw his hands in the air yelling and began a funky chicken victory dance.
He glanced over at his opponent and stopped abruptly when he noticed his opponent was crying. Daniel went over and consoled the loser.

Abby opened the kitchen door and walked in. The jars sat empty on the high chair tray. A spoon leaned inside the yellow crusted one. She saw Daniel reclining in the chair with the baby sleeping on his chest. She walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. Daniel opened his eyes and smiled.
“How was Bible study?” he asked.
“Inspiring,” she replied.
“Daniel,” Abby began.
“Yes, sweetheart,” he answered.
“The jars are empty. The kitchen is still clean. And you and Benny still have on the same clothes from when I left. How did you get Benny to eat the yellow squash?”
“I called Mom,” Daniel responded. “And she told me what she had to do to get me to eat yellow squash.”
