Is the drawing on my soul.
To be set apart – alone – for eternity.
For what more could my heart plead?
A simple place, far away from frills and hype.
So different from where the ladder leads.
Suspended in time - counting each heartbeat.
Listening intently, drawing on each breath.
Hidden in a shadow that affords much rest.
Hearing the darkness with each beat.
Concealed in a secret place known to none.
Feeling the stillness with a peace known by some.
The mast overtakes me. I yield to the weight of it.
Thunder rings out and releases a sound of many waters.
In a suddenly a heart’s veil is ripped asunder and
At the final beat of the heart, love declares it is finished.
The psalmist sings ‘He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. ‘*
Deep calls to deep – drawing me to the mighty Mast.
‘I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."’**
How can I trust any other tower or another cornerstone?
I dare not seek another’s heart – but to know His alone.
With every breath, He speaks my name.
With every beat His blood cleanses me.
In the covering of His holy tent,
I am hidden from the lies all around.
As His heart covers me with love’s simplicity,
I am captivated by the Lion’s humility.
In an instant, His glory fills the temple,
His heart pours forth grace and mercy.
And in the secret place of thunder
Sounds of many waters calls to me.
