What is your gift from the Holy Spirit? Does it concern giving? Does it have to do with teaching? Or does it have to do with exhortation? We find different sets of gifts given in Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. The gift called “exhortation” appears in Romans 12.
What does it mean to have the gift of exhortation? One might look at exhortation as another way of saying “encouragement.” One who has this particular blessing will seek ways to help a fellow Christian to fulfill his/her calling or gift. When I think of exhortation for example, I think of saying something like, “You can do it! Keep going! God will use you if you make yourself available for His service!” Perhaps you can think of other ways to show this particular means to help fellow believers.
If I had one last thing to say to my fellow believers, I would want to say something like this: Use what God has given you for the edification of others and for His glory! God can and will use anyone who makes himself/herself available for the Master’s use. So go ahead and ask God to show you what He has given you, and then go for it!
