Forever On Freedom’s Shore

I close my eyes and vividly recall
Heaven’s descriptions that I’ve heard.
I smile as I mentally wander through
Various scriptures of God’s Word.

Heaven is a joyous place indeed
Full of laughter and not one tear!
The Son shines all the while
As peace abounds without a fear.

We’ll have a place built just for us
A mansion just over the way.
A special place from the Father Himself
Where we will eternally stay!

I envision my Mom on streets of gold
Where glorious sights abound.
How beautiful that sight must be
With splendor and majesty all around!

For on earth my Mom was troubled deep
And her body and mind in despair.
But now her soul is free indeed
Within the Master’s care!

Pain and sorrow clinched her tight
And grief no bars did hold.
Disease and tragedy boggled the mind
And there were no streets of gold.

But one thing she held tightly to
Was the Savior’s Hand so sweet.
She just never really learned the joy
Of leaving her cares at Jesus’ feet.

When Mom’s body was laid to rest
That hot Kentucky summer morn,
I knew her mind and body healed
From everything that kept it torn.

“How beautiful she must be”, I thought
As we laid her in the ground.
Freed from all her anguish and pain
As her Savior led her around.

I cannot wait to see her there
Some day when I am done!
Her soul I’ll know, that I’m sure
And we’ll laugh with God’s only Son!

Oh, how good it will be indeed
To see her whole once more.
She’ll have forever to live in joy
In her mansion on freedom’s shore!

Very nice piece! I can tell your heart is in this one. The meter seems a bit off, but otherwise I enjoyed it - especially this stanza:
For on earth my Mom was troubled deep
And her body and mind in despair.
But now her soul is free indeed
Within the Master’s care!

This is a wonderful testimony to your love for your mom. I enjoyed this poem, especially the message of your mother being freed from her cares and pain. Let me suggest that you take a look at your meter and soften the flow a bit. Keep writing...you have heart!

Brought back memories held close to the heart. Thank-you for writing this.

A very special poem which I enjoyed reading. Having recently lost a parent to illness, I too find myself conjuring up images of what it must be like for them there. Well done.

A beautiful heartfelt poem - and with a little work on meter and flow, it could be a great poem. The message was beautiful and sincere - and reminded me of my own mother. Thank you.
