Hours and days subside
Into the mists of passing time
Without a comment, with no cause
To call achievement for our lives.

We are intrinsically opposed
This war is raging in our blood
We keep on fighting the extremes:
Dark and Pure we dream and scheme.

Are we all shaped by what we lack-
Irrevocably interred
Into the shadows of the pain
Masked beneath our fading smiles?

And will we ever scurry on
Without a moment just
To breathe?
Can we begin to break the mould
Release the choking hold
Or bitter bargains bringing round
The vicious circles we can’t seem
To live without?

Ego-centric we’ve become
Mere shadows of
The people we were meant to be.

Reflecting only these distorted lies
Inhaling deep the stench of our
Misshapen world.
We have forgotten who we are.

But there is still a Light to find
That shines on brightly
Through the neat confines
Of clever, crafted lives
So shaped by logic.

And the bitter grip of reason
That doesn’t offer us a hope
Or future, failing to explain
The mess we’re in.

And there is still His Love and Light
Suggesting more than all these lessons
We have learned the hard way.

And there’s commitment in His gaze
Unflinching through our flighty lies,
And caring through our self-wrought carnage,
He remains.

He remains ... good ending line. Nicely done overall and is an easy read.
