The little boy watched as he walked.
The people were strolling out of the theatre. Hand in hand the lovers walked, chirping excitedly. The families strolled through the park and enjoyed their sumptuous picnic.
The little boy watched as he walked.
The cars sped along the streets. The flashiest of them had the bystanders gaping. A band played on the yacht in the river.
The little boy watched as he walked.
Did they know he was watching? Did they know that his torn clothes barely covered his hungry body? Why had his father left him to fend for himself? What had he done wrong? Did anybody care?
“Please God, only you can understand me. You know that it is the indifference… not the abundance that hurts. Please come quickly, I need you”
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
1 John 3:16-18 (NIV)
