Topic: Purposefulness (Purpose in Life) (05/25/06)

By Valerie Routhieaux

The dictionary defines purposefulness as a noun: the quality of having a definite purpose.

God has a purpose for our lives. He wrote every day in a book. He knew the journey we would need to take. He knew exactly how long the journey would take, and what road must be followed for us to get to our destination. And He knew the cost.

Letís drop in on the plan. The place is eternity past. The Godhead has convened.

Father God: I want to create a place where people will live in harmony and we can have fellowship with them.

Jesus: If we do that, something will go wrong, and we will have to come to the rescue.

Father God: Itís a risk Iím willing to take.

Holy Spirit: We will need a plan in place to guide the people back.

Jesus: What do you have in mind?

Father God: I thought I would make this huge universe. Fill it with planets, and in the middle of the planets make this fertile place where seeds grow, and life is created.

Jesus: I can see just what you want. Weíll need people to run it.

Holy Spirit: And thatís where the problem lies. People will want to run things their way, not ours. They will destroy the beautiful planet we create, until we canít recognize it anymore.

Father God: Thatís why Iím writing everything down that will to take place in my new world.

Jesus: How long will mankind rule over this planet and universe we are going to create?

Father God: Until Iím ready to call my people home.

Holy Spirit: Then you are ready for trouble?

Father God: Iím ready for it are you, Jesus?

Jesus: What will I have to do?

Father God: You will have to redeem them back to us. This is what is going to happen. Weíre going to call the universe into order. Place the sun, moon, stars, and earth in their course. Then we are going to make people out of the dust of the ground. Weíll have to breathe into them, to give them life.

Holy Spirit: Weíll have angels.

Father God: I agree. Weíll need angels who will minister not only to us, but also to the people we create. They will stand guard over them to make sure no harm comes to them.

Jesus: Youíre expecting trouble, or you wouldnít have told me that I would have to redeem the people back.

Father God: Unfortunately one of the angels is going to want to be like us, and will take a large number of angels with him and go to the earth that we are going to create with the word of our mouth and deceive the people into believing that there is more for them, than what we have to offer.

Jesus: So the plan is for me to shed my blood so that man can be redeemed, and we can have fellowship with them.

Father God: And when the time is right, we will bring them all to heaven to live with us.

Jesus: I can do it.

Father God: Youíll go as a baby, so you know how to be like them. Youíll be hungry, cold, and tempted by the angel that will deceive the people. You will encounter every obstacle that they do, so that you can minister to them. You will teach them what we want them to know, and when the time is fully come, you will die on the cross for their sin. But you wonít stay in the grave, because nothing can hold you. On the third day you will rise again, and then come back here to heaven.

Jesus: Are you almost done with the plan?

Father God: I am. Here it is.

Jesus read the plan: Itís all here. Everything that will happen from the time we create the people until the end of time when you bring order back to the universe. Itís a good plan.

Holy Spirit: It looks like my job in this plan is to bring back the people who have strayed and lead them to you for redemption, then guide and teach them for the rest of their lives until they are called home by the Father.

Father God: Thatís right. Are we ready to do this?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earthÖ

This is wonderfully creative! I just love it when a gifted writer or speaker can present the Good News from a fresh perspective. You successfully carried off the tone of a boardroom meeting to provide an innovative slant on the topic--well done!

Confronted by a gift like yours, I will humbly refrain from my usual nitpicks. Keep writing!

Very cool and unique idea. I would've liked to have seen some description of where they are. I think that would add some more to your piece.

You did a great job with this topic.

I have been reading a lot of Max Lucado lately and I see some similarities.

For instance, since Jesus was with the Godhead at the beginning of time, He formed the ore that would be used for the nails that would eventually pin his hands and feet to a Roman Cross.

When I look at accounts of the "Last Supper", I am struck by the fact that Jesus actually washed Judas' feet.

Keep writing my friend.

You have the unique ability to look beyond the obvious.
