How many of us see ourselves as God sees us?
How often do we fail to apply The Lord’s word to our own lives?
What negative thoughts do we tend to think about ourselves, thoughts that don’t match up to God’s word.
We need to love God with ALL (not part) but ALL of our mind
We need to love God with ALL of our being
We need to love God with of our heart and ALL of our strength
Guess what happens when we start doing this and speaking the truth – we start to experience the joy and hope of being a child of God.
And also when we start experiencing the joy of The Lord, He starts pouring his blessings out on us. We start experiencing spiritual encouragement, powerful enablement and a renewed fresh energy which enables us to handle life as the Holy Spirit uses God’s word in our hearts and mind.
As we grow and start to speak God’s truth into our lives, we find we want to devour more and more of His word in our lives. We are starting to be renewed on a daily basis.
We can then start to get to know God personally because we are starting to receive the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16
For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him’ But we now have the mind of Christ.
All of us need (and I’m sure most of us do this already) to start tapping into the power of God’s Word. For this is our foundation for a healthy thought life. God has chosen to communicate with us through His Living Word
His word takes priority over everything else we might choose as the basis of our thoughts, our actions and our feelings.
Through thinking and acting on His word can lift us out of the depths of defeat, discouragement, despair, doubt and depression and therefore this enables us to deal with challenges that come our way.
Now does this mean that suddenly everything is going to be a bed of roses in how we see ourselves, does this mean that overnight our way of thinking is going to be renewed?? No of course not!
This is an ongoing process!
From the time we became believers and have accepted Jesus as Lord of our lives, He has started a work in us that does not finish until we are called home. We are continuously ‘a work in progress’. He starts to refine us!
One example I have used often is this………..If you take say a cooking apple, you have to peel the skin off first of all and often on the apple there are bruises/blemishes which need to be removed. You remove these “bad areas” by cutting away and as you keep cutting away the blemish/bruise become smaller and smaller until finally you have pure, crisp white fruit.
Well, this is what Jesus does with us, he starts removing layer by layer, little by little the bad parts in our lives. He starts chipping away at the insecurities, negative thoughts, and so the list continues until we are blemish free.
So does this mean that we are all going to be perfect and good wholesome Christians, who get to a place where we no longer sin, we no longer suffer struggles and tribulations in our lives and everything is therefore a bed of roses and “hunky dory” ?. Ha hmmm, excuse me, no it doesn’t mean that at all. We do need to get real here too hello!!!!!
When we are called home that is a different story entirely as we are then made perfect but until then………………..we still experience difficulties and come up against problems and yes, satan does from time to time still have a go at us as you all know but, the difference is ……… Jesus is in our hearts and He is our continued helper. Amen
This is an area where we can ALL build one another up and encourage one another in, in learning to take in the truth of God’s Word and replace the negative with the positive……………………………
