“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” – 1 Peter 1:13.

Friends, what is this ‘Hope’ that we all keep ‘hoping’ for?

A hope that one day we will be filled with riches, honor and glory in this world? A hope that we will reach the peaks of success in our career? A hope that health, beauty and long life will be ours forever?

That is not the ‘hope’ that the word of God evokes in us. Then what is it that Jesus wants us to yearn for and promises us that He would give? It is the hope of salvation and eternal life that He promises us. Yes, Praise God!

We may attain all that we need in this world – riches, fame, beauty, long life, etc. But is all that going to last forever? We have come empty-handed to this world – and empty- handed shall we leave. Why then do we struggle to make more and more money, build bigger mansions than our neighbor, buy a later model of vehicle than what our neighbor has – when one day we have to leave all that and leave this earthly abode?

What then, is the purpose of our life on this earth? The hope that we all need to give a definite direction in our life should be that one day we shall stand before the throne of God – our race well run. We should be ready to meet our beloved Savior – with all our iniquities washed away by the blood of the Lamb that was shed for us at Calvary. We need to accept that loving sacrifice, and lo and behold! He will wash us whiter than snow – without a blemish.

How does He want us to come before Him? ‘Be holy because I am holy” [1 Peter1:16] – that’s His plea to us. With all our sins and failures, how can we – mere humans – ever hope to be Holy enough to stand before Him? The answer, beloved friends, is very simple and summed up in Mathew 22: 37 –‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind’. When we do that, everything changes and attains a new dimension. Rather than pleasing this world – now our thoughts and deeds would be aimed at pleasing our beloved Father. Now in everything that we do – we would stop awhile and consider – will my Father be pleased with me if I do this, or will I be hurting Him?’

Then the grace of God and His blessings begin to pour upon us. A new era of hope begins to dawn upon us and the peace that passeth all understanding will always reside in us.

May that heavenly peace fill us with that strong hope of salvation and eternal life.

Good message and very competantly written. There have been many like it this week. Creativity is a key feature of the challenge, think how you could present the same information in a way that is unique.
