The Rose Bud

A Rose bud bound tight, fully wound
Making not a rustle, no not one sound

Tough green petals holding its heart in
Protecting fiercely, from the wind

Destined to bloom forth in brilliance
Colors vibrant, colors so resilient

Yet like a thief in the night it came
To destroy, to kill the destined change

A wicked frost, most cold and hard
The buds growth, to maim, to retard

Settling down around its protective petals
Cold as steel, sharp as jagged metal

Freezing, inhibiting the buds life
In the quiet cold, dead of night

Yet the protective petals tough as nails
Refused to move, nor let winds prevail

Wrapping around tightly like a glove
A shield of faith, a shield of love

Until the faithful sun would melt away
Deeds of darkness, in the light of day

So it is with the bud of our heart
Our most tender, vulnerable part

Words come, sharp as a surgeon’s knife
To cut away, to destroy precious life

Pains and hurts, many storms untold
Come like the frost, hard and cold

Desiring to steal the blossom of life
In cold darkness, the world’s night

Yet what it sneaks and takes away
Is restored in splendor, light of day

The Son rises to rule over the night
Removing the frost, evicting plight

He turns the evil into good
That we might bloom as we should

He is the gardener of our tender bud
He brings restoration, wrapped in love

Blooming us forth in destined glory
A fragrant rose, loves greatest story

He takes what the enemy means for evil and uses it for good. He has heard every word spoken about you and is aware of every deed of darkness perpetrated against you.

Remember this when tempted to wonder if He cares. Your name is tattooed in the palm of His hand. The world may not admit that you are a rose; however it knows it to be so. This is why the enemy is so resolute in his attack. He doesn’t want you to believe it. Most of all he wants you angry at the people who inflicted pain, hurts or spoke the words. This way you become a victim not a victor. Trust Him.

Take your thoughts captive, setting your face like flint in His direction. Let Him into the garden of your life. The covenant He made with you, bought with blood, is your sure protection and gurarntee

His nurturing heart will burst forth the bud of your life with a glorious demonstration of beauty, for He loves you with a jealous love.

And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.(Rm.8:28 ASV)

A sweet devotional with a great analogy between a rosebud and the heart.
