Very fast. Very poignant. I was almost there too. Why did "you" feel that way toward Him, though? Why did "you" convert?

That I care about about what "you" think as "you" hang there shows your very real skill and craftmanship.

Wow. Horrifically vivid (which is not a criticism!). I also felt it a bit sudden when he converted. How did he conclude that the man
next to him was a righteous man? GOod writing.

I like the way you wrote this, from the man's perspective. Very moving and well done.
This is so well written, Kevin! It evokes all the emotions that such a tragic and yet beautiful act of salvation should. You very effectively let us see through the 'good' theif's eyes and heart.
