THE SEARCH

Where does fulfillment come from?
How the is it even found?
What does fulfillment look like?
I have really looked around.
What is the definition?
What wordage do I enlist?
They seem to only elude me
Like figures within a mist.

Is it found in financial freedom,
Having money in the bank-
Lines of credit one receives
In stocks and bonds highly ranked?
I thought about position,
And one’s status in this life-
Rungs on the corporate ladder
And all appears without strife.

Does it come with second homes,
And vacations on the lake-
Boats, skis and country clubs
Will this fulfillment make?
Do I need creative ways
Talent in the many arts-
To sing, paint or write a poem
Would this be a place to start?

Is it found in family,
Where love and concern abound-
Affirmations freely said
Is it there that it is found?
As I searched and I struggled
Sought to find the answer true-
I recalled words in the Book
That had presented clues.

While money is important
To meet the daily needs-
Positions serve some purpose
Be aware of growing greed.
Fulfillment means completeness
Left missing unless you see-
Though all these things be present
There must be ‘Jesus in Me’.

I liked your simple but direct conclusion. One little thing to fix: "How the is it even found?" but a minor glitch in a good job well done.
