Ben entered the room where Sheba was laying down.’ “I just heard some chatter, from our friends outside, things are getting bad.” “What’s the latest news then, is it getting worse?” Ben gazed steadily at Sheba. “Yes, we have seemed to enter into those perilous last days. The news is coming in from all over the world.” Sheba groaned inwardly.

“I didn’t realize that Robin and her friends were due back, she just flew in. Nice of her to stop by so soon” Murmured Ben thoughtfully. Sheba looked at Ben and replied, “with all her world wide contacts, we are in for an interesting, but disturbing conversation I‘m afraid.”

“When Jimmy and Trish get home,” said Sheba, “lets hope Robin and her friends are still close by, for I am anxious to hear everything.“ Sheba paced the floor looking down at the worn rug.

Sheba walked over to the couch. “I am getting worried Ben, things are so bad all over. These really are the last days.” “Well, you may be right,” commented Ben. “When we were out in the backyard yesterday, I heard a few things from our new neighbor, Duke, he’s up on current events,” remarked Ben. The gentleman he rooms with is quite into Bible prophecy.”

“Really! What did you hear?” Sheba asked with great interest. “Well, Duke says his friend feels that there are about to be major developments in the world.” Ben spoke quietly now. “He says his roommate speaks of nothing else. He feels that someone will have to step in and try to offer some plan for peace, before something drastic happens.” Ben shook his head and continued, “ Duke groaned when he told me the news. The time is close, everyone we know, Sheba, seems to feel this same gripping intensely.”

“Ben, I only wish Jimmy and Trish would find Jesus.” Sheba sighed. Ben nodded his shaggy head in agreement. ”Where are they today, do you know?” “With their friends I guess, they never even bother to tell us goodbye half the time.”

“Tell me more about the Bible Prophecy Ben, What does Duke think will happen next, I mean, we only go by feelings you and I.”
“Sheba” Ben looked serious. “We know what God has put in our hearts, and though we don’t have the words, we wait paitently for the Lord‘s return, right!” “Oh Ben.” cried Sheba, “If only our Jimmy and Trish could feel as we do.”

“If only God would open the door for us to enter through and speak with them Ben, I know they would listen.” “Well, I know God did open a door for one in the Bible. It was similar to the position we find ourselves in Sheba. I have heard that story my whole life as you have, but it didn’t bring that person to the Lord. I tell you Sheba, it must be God’s doing, not ours, and you know this as well as I do”

As they heard the car pull into the driveway, Ben and Sheba looked up expectantly. “Well it‘s a beautiful day, and life has never looked better,“ laughed Jimmy. “I am so proud of you Jim, getting that big raise. We can get a new car, and look for a bigger home, life is good,” Trish said, as she and Jim entered the house. Ben and Sheba listened to the words and both groaned with sorrow.

“Benji, Sheba, come on you dogs, want to go outside and play? Your buddy Duke is out in his backyard. He’s looking through the fence waiting for you!” called Jimmy. As Trish opened the back door for their two dogs to go out, she was suddenly taken by surprise! “Look at all those birds outside! Hmmm, even a few dozen robins, I wonder where they all came from?”

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. Romans 8:22 (KJV)

Ben referred to Balaams donkey. The Lord used the animal, but, Balaam never repented. You see, Ben was right.
Numbers 22:26-34

Are the animals waiting for the curse to be taken off creation? Jesus said, the very rocks would cry out, if the people didn‘t praise him. So how much more are the animals waiting for creation to be restored? These are just things I have often wondered.

Some may not be as smart as a rock, but that ….is another story.

Thanks for reminding that the perilous days are ahead and someone has to do something before anything drastic happens. Good writing.

You had me - I didn't realize it was dogs until about halfway through. In my opinion, the last four paragraphs could have been left out, but they are useful to those who don't know or care about the end times. Nicely done.
