We often find ourselves reaching for something, anything that will numb our pain, provide an answer or give us hope. Yet in our quest, we realize that nothing and no one offers the comfort we are seeking. It must come from the One who lives inside, who never disappoints and whose power is always available to us. May we reach for His hand of grace.

I enter into secret place,
Am seeking comfort for my soul.
I reach for something to embrace
To make me feel at peace, feel whole.

I’m disappointed once again.
It seems no matter how I try,
This secret place is not my friend.
Externals never satisfy.

I enter into sacred place.
Though hesitant, I’ll try it here.
I get a taste of loving grace,
I sense a lifting of my fear.

I settle in, perhaps I’ll stay
And trust the One who mercy gives.
Have faith that He will lead the way.
I’m grateful that in me He lives.

I enter into freedom place.
A place I never thought I’d find.
I’m overwhelmed by joyous space
And can’t believe this peace is mine.

From bondage, fear and torment free.
I thought this day would never come.
I found a place prepared for me,
A gift from loving, graceful One.

'I found a place prepared for me,' I never thought of that Sacred place as a place 'prepared' for me. I'll have to dwell on this some more. Thank you for these words of insight and encouragement. Something we all need to keep us walking on this road. They 'hit the spot.' Well crafted, easy to read and poignant. Loved this!

What a meaningful progression...secret place, sacred place, freedom place! This is such a sensitive and insightful poem that goes straight to the important matter of where one's heart is. Truly beautiful!!
