Have you ever been alone? I mean really alone? I have. I have been alone in a crowded room. I have been alone because of many factors; mostly made up in my own mind.
I have let people get to me. One of my defenses is to withdraw. I withdraw into myself and make myself more miserable. Instead of confronting them, I go into my own mind.
It was my own choice that I was lonely. It was my own fault that I was miserable. Of course, I blamed other people. I told myself tat they didn’t deserve me. They may not have deserved me, but I only punished myself.
Sometimes being alone, with time to reflect, is good. Sometimes being alone can help you to connect with others. Sometimes a little peace and quiet can go a long way.
I know that it is not good to be alone all the time. God wants us to be a part of His community. He wants us to contribute our talents to further His work. You cannot serve God shuttered from the rest of the world.
I think that this was the reason that God sent His Son to us. To show us the example of how we need to be. His Son entered the world and became a part of the world; not worldly, but world-wise.
We cannot be Godly when we disengage from the world. We can only fulfill our calling by being fully engaged; by entering the world. The only difference is that now we enter this world newly born and full of the spirit of God.
So take some time alone and commune with God. When you are ready re-enter this world and fulfill your calling.
