Enter the kingdom of God
¡°The kingdom of God¡± was the main theme of our Lord Jesus¡¯ preaching when he was on earth. He called to the people: ¡°Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near¡± (Matt.4:17). ¡°The kingdom of heaven¡± and ¡°the kingdom of God¡± are similar in meaning. It is a kingdom where God is King. It is a kingdom that was established by God Himself for His people. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, had been there. Nevertheless, they were expelled from there because of their sin. From that time, God¡¯s creatures left their Creator, and human beings lost their home. To be reconciled with God became a dream of ages. To enter the kingdom of God became the desire of all generations.
Where is the way?
People lost their God, but God has never lost His people. He known their suffering; He heard their cry; He fulfilled their dreams. God sent His Son to the earth. God¡¯s Word became flesh within us. The Son of God shows us a way to the kingdom of God. He told the world, ¡°I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me¡± (John 14:6).
The first step to follow Jesus is to repent, to confess our sins and turn from our sinful ways. We must turn away from every wicked source and look to our Savior Jesus, the Truth and the Life. No one who wants to enter the kingdom of God can skip this first step.
Then, one must believe in Jesus, and follow Him. One must believe that He is the Son of God, and He died on the cross for our sins. One must believe that He has risen from death, and now He sits in both the right hand of Father in heaven and the lives in His believer¡¯s hearts. To follow Jesus is not only to acknowledge Him as our God, but our Lord. We are willing to submit ourselves to Him because He is the Savior, we are sinners; He is ¡°the gate for the sheep¡± (John 10:7), we are the lost ones; He is Master, we are disciples; He is ¡°the light of the world¡± (John 9:5), we are the seekers; He is everything, we are nothing. For these reasons, we must obey Him.
Thanks to be God¡¯s grace, for Him gave us His only begotten Son, and through Him, we can enter the kingdom of God.
