When Mandy heard that one command from the booming voice on the other side of the door, “Enter!” she had no idea what she was letting herself into.
It had been a long, long drive from her hometown to here but she had taken the journey hoping that it would bring more stability to her life. Three years ago, she was involved in a major drug bust, which cost her dearly in her reputation.
A lawyer by profession, she was eyeing the position of judge that had been advertised in the court she practiced. Her heart’s desire was to sit as a judge and she worked her way ambitiously toward it. Although still quite young for such a position, she was commended that she could handle it.
It was quite a shock when her fiancé was busted for dealing with drugs; selling to under age children. She was implicated because she was his representative. Of course she never thought to question his motives for all those things she did for him on the legal side. How blinded she was.
Therefore it was devastating when it happened dragging her career into the mud. Try as she might, she could not convince anybody that she was innocent. As a lawyer, she should have read what she was signing before she put her name on the dotted line.
Mercy came via non-prosecution but already the damage was done. She was stripped of her right to practice law. For three years, she went around blaming everybody, feeling sorry for herself and becoming very bitter.
It was no surprise therefore, that she decided to take up a job as a researcher to an eccentric author out in the countryside. He was somebody she didn’t know, he wrote stories for children.
“Never mind,” she thought. At least it was far away from everything she was familiar with. She needed a fresh start.
The prospective employer had sent a representative to interview her, and without further ado, she was offered the job.
That was a few months ago. Now she was facing an entirely new life. Quaking, she entered the bright mansion into a life that was totally life enhancing. She entered into a dawn of hope, renewed life and love.
Here she learnt how to read the Bible and found out that there is someone who was willing to share her burden and help her move on with her life. The author she had no idea about wrote Christian books for children. He had been commissioned by the Father to bring her into this life and end her misery.
She prospered more than she ever would in her old life and even though she was not in the limelight, she was content to spend her days learning and getting to know God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
And as she read, John 3:5 which said, “…Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (KJV) She realised that truly was a different person who was much more at peace and happier than she had ever been and if she had ran away when she got the command to “Enter!” she would never have discovered the true life.
