I chose to remain voiceless,
And let the moment slip.
She needed my compassion,
I felt so ill-equipped.

I chose to keep my mouth shut.
I should have spoken out.
He was in need of Jesus,
I gave into my doubts.

I chose to stand there wordless,
As Your name was vilified.
For fear of retribution
Your kinship, I denied.

I chose the sound of silence
Instead of holy speech.
The heart that was so willing,
I sorely failed to reach.

The path of least resistance
Has been the way for me.
Safe within my comfort zone,
Ignoring every plea.

Now, I stand before Your throne,
As You recount my sin.
All the opportunities,
I failed, a soul to win.

Absorbed within my ego,
I forfeited the goal.
Rapt in persecution's fear,
It all, my courage stole.

Oh, Father, God forgive me,
For Iíve disgraced Your name.
Selfish were my choices,
Iíve only me to blame.

Friend, learn from my misdoings,
Do not your voice withhold.
Seize each and every instance,
Be strong, be brave, be bold!

I have to say, this poem is every bit a description of me. So many times I've failed to say something knowing full well that I should. It captures the complete essence of those moments. Very good!

Amen..Amen...Amen! I would love to see this poem in the entry way of every church or placed in the bulletin...or better yet, written on the hearts of men. I love it!

This is a 'winning' poem - a soul winning poem! Yes, I've been there too but I'm reminded of Peter's victory after he denied Jesus. We can only be effective witnesses by the power of His Spirit in us. I love this poem!
