Mini-blinds are connected and assembled with strings. The blind slats separate when the string is left alone. Each wood slat dangles on its own; not touching the one above or below. Yet, all the slats are connected by the string and can only come apart completely if the string breaks or is physically cut. One string works the left side of the blinds; the other works the right side. If we either pull the right or left string individually, the blinds tip unevenly. One end of the slats stick close together, but the other end of the slats spread apart even further. They actually fan out from one another. Sometimes in life we try to pull the string and do things our way without God. We control how the blinds go up. If we pull on just the right string, from one perspective things improve or come together, but from another things pull apart or get worse. If we pull the left and right strings together, we work with God and through Him the blinds go up and come together very evenly. Both ends of the slats meet including everything in the middle. We are able to then “see the Light.”
That is why we must let go and let God. Without God’s guidance, wisdom, grace, mercy, forgiveness, patience, love, understanding, acceptance etc… we cannot all come together in the Body of Christ. The individual strings in mini-blinds can represent “us” in a relationship if pulled separately, God “with us and in us” if pulled together, When we pull strings alone without God, when we attempt to control that which is out of our control, things can become off kilter for those around us. If we only pull on the left string, some people stick together and feel close, but the consequence of pulling that string alone on the left leaves everyone on the right distant, confused and erratic. Resentment can build; frustration can mount until eventually those on the right yank on the right string hard enough to pull things back their direction. So, the right end of the blinds then come together temporarily while the left ends suddenly separate wildly before any of the wood slats know what happened.
This see saw effect can go on forever in life as well unless someone makes the first step to let God pull the strings for us. When this happens, the blinds of life go up evenly and we can see what is outside and inside our Windows of Life with perfect clarity.
