However, this scenario, would not be possible if she'd been a bit less unquestioning. She had accepted that there was a menace from the old days and that the Light Force's muscle man would be best suited to stop his rampage in River Falls. And to help, she suited up and had their teenage kids suit up. He would never understand why a man who could change into living diamond and a woman with powers that allowed her to survive underwater crested kids that had none of their powers.
Loretta had flame powers which allowed her to metamorph into a creature of living flame and Don had weather-kenitic alilities. And their new baby, Alexis, hadn't manifested any powers yet, but Rex knew she might wait until she was older to conscously choose to use her powere. Seriously, Rex thought to himself, Don's powers didn't manifest till he was in preschool and a recess that had goten rained on changed into snow. In early September no less. But thinking about what Alexis might be able to do was only distracting him from his family's situation.
Dr. Mean had them trapped in a cage with energy bars that manipulated ones emotions if one should touch them.
Diamond had already touched them with his armored glove and felt a wave of despair was over him. Diamond muttered to himself at that point, "Dude, you managed to get better tech than in our old days."
The green clad villian sauntered back to the room where he had his had dumped his captives so uncerimonously and chuckled the standard evil villian chuckle. "Well, it seems the two obvious love birds from our old days finaly got hitched and had babies too. So, Diamond, which one has your strength and which one has your wife's water powers?"
"Not tellin' you nothin,'" Diamond growled.
"Still the same rude, low grammer skilled lout from the old days I see," Mean replied.
Diamond had somethingelse to focus on as his daughter was awakening. "No using your powers yet, Firefly."
He hoped she was awake enough to recognize the code names he had gifted them with in powers practice. Fortinatually she was and asked in a groggy voice just barely above a whisper, "What about Mariness and Cloudchanger?"
"Still out cold," He responded even as he saw his wife's limbs start to move about meaning she was coming to.
"Family times over!" Dr Mean crowed. "I guess what you wonder why I've come out of retirement? Well my dimwitted old nemesis, it is all about controlling money. In order to release you and Mariness unharmedand the teenaged sidekicks in training I have demanded one hundred million dollars. No big deal, really. They pay out more in lottery prizes all the time."clad
"You know you wont get away with this!" Firefly shouted at him after shooting a flameball the size of a basketball at the bars of the cage.
"But you see my hot headed young lady, I will and then buy an island from a country with no treaty of extridation with the USA. All I need to do is watch as the money flows into my account." And he stepped away from a standard computer monitor which was showing a well known bank's home page.
Mariness spoke up asking the green clad Dr. Meana rethorical question. "Do you remember how I defeated you last time we fought?"
"My dear, your English has gotten so much better than in the old days. Of course I remember, you used your powers to dehydrate me until I surrendered. This suit will help prevent that my dear Chrisian Crusader. I have the controls for your energy cage built in to my sleeve, right next to my battle-bot controls. I feel unwell and I contract your cage and change the emotions you feel from touching the bars into sucidal depression."
Don was just waking upas the villian had just finished his latest mini-monolouge. He didn't need to move to focus his powers like his sister. he concentrated and a small raincloud appeared inside of Dr. Means control panel on his suit. Don intensified the rain to a micro-thinderstorm and shorted out the cage controls as well as those for the battle-bot. They'd already fought that giant robot and lost once today.
Mom and Dad noticed what he'd done as well as Dr. Mean noticing when water and sparks began to come out of his wrist controls. Mom hugged him and told him what a good job he'd done while Dad just straight up leapt off the cage floor and punched the villian into submission.
And thus ended the case that marked the debut of Firefly and Cloudchanger's debut. The moment of victory was broken by something completly ordinary. Mariness's cell phone.
"Rebecca, you and Rex need to get home right away," came the voice of their friend and sitter Faith Wallace. "Ali has begun to manifest her powers and you wont believe it."
So the family of heroes waited impatiently for the police to take Mean into custody
