Lack of love
Yearning for attention
Memories of joy
We went to the movies, the fair and parades
We were young, free of worries and sometimes afraid
But now the time has come for me
To tell you that I must be free
I love you dearly and always will
But the pain you cause can sometimes kill
God only knows when the time is right
Yet often I feel my time should be tonight
This poem was written from the heart of a lonely, hurt teenager looking for a way of escape from the pain of her “family love”.
Growing up I never thought about a family vacation, only the desire to vacate from my family. My pen and pad allowed me to travel away from the misery of the love I was missing. I began a quest to find love by allowing my thoughts to become tangible on the pages of my journal. I was like a tourist in a foreign land being guided to all the “must see sites” through the comfort of His word. I enjoyed “my vacation” so much I didn’t want it to end.
Becoming a part of God’s family is what changed my perspective of my own family. And now I’m able to experience the right definition of family and forgive the one I left behind.
