By simple force of nature, there should be supreme consequences for disobedience while living the spiritual life, ultimately, if not immediately. As a child, a complaint to my mother was that so-and-so was doing it, why couldnít I? Her answer? Iím not so-and-soís mother, Iím yours; and I said No. As I grew into womanhood, I realized that just because so-and-so is doing it doesnít mean you should, too. By the same token, I believe God doesnít let us get away with disobedience to His Word just because others do it and seemingly get away with it. Obedience has gotten a negative connotation - in the strictest sense of the word, it means: Behavior intended to please. Whether anyone is looking or not, as Christians, we should always behave in a manner that is pleasing to God Ė the first act of obedience even when the rules arenít succinct and clear.

I'm not sure I understand the meaning of the opening line but that is probably my fault. I feel that you could have expanded and made it longer. I would have liked to have read more. Love Deb

I agree. You have wonderful points, but could have put each one into a paragraph of its own and buffed it up.

I am not sure what the title has to do with your essay, but I like your thoughts. You have much room to expound more. God bless,

Sorry guys - I misread the requirements and thought it said the max word limit was 150. The min was 150 and max 750.

How true this is - I've often agonized over this state of affairs in society today - that we are all regulated by externals instead of the Word of God. I like the way you've put this using your mother's words.
