Those who love me
Obey my Word
This is eternal life
Your salvation assured

I hear all your love songs
Rising from hard wooden pews
Where sit hardened hearts
That turn from the truth

Considering commandments
That merit consent
Independent man
Refuses to repent

Disregarding obedience
Your offering is vain
No clothing of righteousness
But a covering of shame

Come to me and listen
With an obedient ear
Do not ignore my voice
As my Spirit draws near

Wives, submit to your husbands
"But he's lost," you contend
Why won't you believe me?
Faith without works is dead

Husbands, love your wives
As I have loved the church
A man who will lay down his life
Is the jewel for which I search

Children, obey your parents
That you may have a good, long life
The promise is not guaranteed
To the proud child consumed with strife

Who is it that loves me?
My eyes of fire roam the earth
When I stare into your soul
Will you be found loving the truth?

If you love me - you will obey me
Am I a man that I should lie?
Only a heart that is willing
Can be fully equipped to fly

I enjoyed your poem. Verse two rang especially true in my ears and reading it from "God;s point of view" was effective.

Very, very good poem. I love the image of His eyes of fire searching our souls. Will we be found loving truth or a lie? Will our hearts be equipped to fly? Great job!
