Even after I became a Christian, I was still in bondage to fear. Don’t get me wrong: I’d read “God hasn’t given us a Spirit that makes us slaves again to fear…”, but years of being neglected and called too small (it got so I came to believe it) to be wherever I was in life and of course, being abandoned by my dearest parent, my father, did not help me to have trust in God for who He is. I thought: if He’s a Father, what shows He will not let me down too? My father left abruptly without saying goodbye. And even after regaining contact with him, my self-esteem failed to shoot up as I had thought it would; things were just not the same.
My problem was I listened to what the flesh (devil) whispered to me all the time: God won’t look out for you; think about yourself; don’t give your all to Him; what if He breaks your heart? For years, I listened to him.
Thank God by His grace and patience with me I am not in bondage to fear and depression anymore. I’ve realized the devil is all bark and no bite. I read in Revelations chapter six that the horses could not move until God commanded them! And also “resist the devil, and he’ll flee from you.” And “he’s like (not even as) a roaring lion”, “we’re not unaware of the devices (of the devil)”. There are a lot of other verses which did not seem to mean much to me before, but not now. That does not mean everything’s perfect now. I still wish I parents who loved each other and all, and sometimes, sometimes, I feel alone and depressed. But the verses come to mind, and I try to dwell on them instead. The devil is a fallen angel who knows he cannot get me God’s child to hell, so wants me to not enjoy “the riches in Christ Jesus.” He has a bark alright, but no bite.

God allows us to have a past to build a future on.

For ease of reading, double space between your paragraphs.

You can also use equation marks around those sentence that could mark your exact words or even thought.

We should not allow the bad experiences in our live be anchors around our neck but be used as stepping stones to climb higher.

We can have a choice in how we use them.

Keep on writing. This may may be God's way of helping one to overcome.

This is a good testimony. It's true that some people have had horrible earthly father's, so are a bit gun-shy of another father. Once we get to know him though, it's easy to see he is different from any other parent. Nice job.
