I was a bit frustrated with myself but learned to laugh at it fairly fast. I'm normally not a hunter but when my chickens and other small animals are at stake I become a willing participant though not an exceptional one by any means. I've since this above incident tried two more times though without my expectations being met.
Often times as Christians we think biblical truths and concepts are in the abstract when in reality they are and should be a daily occurrence. Hebrews 11:1 KJV gives a succinct definition of faith. I have faith that the fox pup will show its more skittish self again but behind that faith I need action (James 2:17-18 KJV). I need to practice shooting, make sure the gun is properly loaded, and patiently wait early in the morning for his appearance.
Faith isn't always comfortable or as easy as my illustration may suggest but God works it out in our lives in the same way. Is Jesus Christ the Savior of the world? Then tell others about Him even if it's as basic as saying that He loves us (John 3:16 KJV). Have struggles seemed to drown out hope? Pray (1 Peter 5:7 KJV) and believe He'll move on our behalf even if it's not in the way expected (Isaiah 55:8-11 KJV). Is there a time of waiting to endure? Trust and learn (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV) of the Creator of the universe who daily gives us breath and sustenance. Expect Him to provide what is needed!
