I hate my car!
I hate my neighborhood!
I work so hard and I seem to be stuck in this job. It feels like I work harder than anyone else at work. I am doing my job and my job only! I don’t get paid to do anyone else’s job!
The check engine light is on again! I just took my car to the mechanic 6 months ago for this same problem! My car does not look as good as my neighbor’s car! I need a new car because my car does not look like it used to!
What has happened to my neighborhood? My friends have all moved on to bigger and better homes. Why am I stuck here? It rains too much now-a-days.
Stop.
Think back.
Have you ever sounded like that? You know, a complainer – a whiner?
There are so many people without a job and you have one.
Every car requires repairs at some point, and the older the car the more likely that it will need repairs more regularly.
There are many that are homeless.
Whining is not a big deal until we really think about what the root of it is, that being ingratitude.
Yes we whine because we are ungrateful!
The Children of Israel went in circles for 40 years whining. Whining does not get us too far. It makes people want to dodge us at all costs. Eventually we find ourselves by ourselves, but there is a cure!
Gratitude is the antidote for whining.
My job is tough, but God has provided me with an income.
My car is getting old, but I don’t have a car payment anymore, and the cost of my repairs is still significantly less than buying a new car.
My neighborhood has changed and many of my old friends have left, but now I have the opportunity to make new friends.
We can always make a choice to complain or to give thanks to God.
One choice causes people to draw away from us. The other choice draws people to us.
One choice causes us to always be miserable. The other choice makes us content.
The choice is ours to make. What choice will you make today?

Nicely done. God bless~
Why should we be grateful?
It's hard to see reasons for gratitude when you're in the middle of a bad day.
When we're deep in our own destructive self talk, how can we be reminded to thank God? I think a continuation of this article is in order - you're onto something here..
